What Are CRFSC & CFSC Mock Exams?

Mock exams are full-length practice tests designed to replicate the format, difficulty, and timing of the real Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) and Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC) written examinations. Each mock exam contains multiple-choice questions drawn from the complete curriculum, timed to match the actual exam duration, and scored using the official 80% pass threshold.

We offer three types of mock exams: Combined PAL exams (50 questions covering both CFSC and CRFSC in 90 minutes), CRFSC-only exams (30 questions on restricted firearms in 45 minutes), and CFSC-only exams (40 questions on non-restricted firearms in 45 minutes). Each exam has a unique question set, so taking multiple exams gives you broad coverage of all topics.

Recommended Study Path

For the best results, we recommend following this sequence before and after taking mock exams:

  1. Start with the Study Guide. Read through the complete guide to understand every topic covered on the exam.
  2. Complete all 9 Topic Tests. Master each subject area individually — ACTS & PROVE, storage, legal, etc.
  3. Take a mock exam. Start with a Combined PAL exam to get a baseline score across all topics.
  4. Review your weak areas. Use the detailed results breakdown to identify topics you struggled with.
  5. Re-study those topics. Go back to the specific topic tests and study guide sections.
  6. Take another mock exam. Repeat until you consistently score 90% or higher.

How to Use Mock Exams Effectively

  • Simulate real conditions. Sit in a quiet room, set a timer, put your phone away, and do not look up answers during the test. This builds the time-management and focus skills you will need on exam day.
  • Read every explanation. After each question, read the detailed explanation — even for questions you got right. You may have guessed correctly but for the wrong reason, or you may learn a related fact that appears elsewhere on the exam.
  • Track your progress. Write down your score for each mock exam. You should see your score improve over time. If it plateaus, focus on the topics where you are consistently losing marks.
  • Do not memorise answers. The goal is to understand the material, not to memorise specific questions. Our question bank is large, but the real exam may phrase things differently.
  • Aim for 90%+. The pass mark is 80%, but exam-day nerves can cost you 5–10%. Scoring 90%+ consistently on practice exams gives you a comfortable safety margin.

Frequently Asked Questions About Mock Exams

Are these the same questions as the real exam?

No. These are independent practice questions based on the same curriculum. The real CFSC and CRFSC exams are administered by certified instructors and the exact questions are not publicly available. However, our questions cover the same topics at the same difficulty level.

How many mock exams should I take?

We recommend at least 3–4 full-length mock exams before your real test date. Take one to establish a baseline, study your weak areas, then take more to measure improvement. Continue until you consistently score 90% or higher.

Can I retake the same mock exam?

Yes. Questions are shuffled each time, but the pool for each exam is fixed. For maximum coverage, take different numbered exams rather than repeating the same one.

What is the difference between Combined, CRFSC, and CFSC exams?

Combined exams cover both CFSC and CRFSC material (50 questions, 90 minutes). CRFSC exams focus only on restricted firearms (30 questions, 45 minutes). CFSC exams focus only on non-restricted firearms (40 questions, 45 minutes). Choose based on which licence you are pursuing.

Will these exams guarantee I pass?

No practice exam can guarantee a pass. However, consistent study and practice testing is the most effective preparation method. Students who take multiple practice exams typically perform significantly better than those who only read the textbook.
