Why Practice by Topic?
The CFSC and CRFSC exams cover a wide range of topics, from basic firearm safety procedures to complex legal requirements. Studying by topic lets you identify and strengthen your weakest areas before taking a full-length mock exam. Research shows that targeted practice โ focusing on specific areas of weakness โ is far more effective than simply re-reading the textbook from cover to cover. Each of our topic tests includes detailed explanations for every question, so you learn from your mistakes immediately.

How the Exam System Works in Canada
To obtain a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) in Canada, you must pass the Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC). If you also want a Restricted Possession and Acquisition Licence (RPAL), you must pass both the CFSC and the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC). Each course has a written exam (multiple choice, 80% to pass) and a practical exam (hands-on demonstration). Our practice tests focus on the written exam component.
The CFSC covers non-restricted firearms: rifles and shotguns. The CRFSC covers restricted firearms: primarily handguns. Both exams test your knowledge of safety procedures, legal requirements, and proper operation. By completing all nine topic tests on this page, you will have covered every major area tested on both exams.
