What Happens If You Fail the CFSC?
If you score below 80% on the written exam or make any errors on the practical, you can retake the test. Most instructors allow a written rewrite on the same day or schedule you for a makeup exam. There is no limit to the number of attempts. Study harder before your next attempt.
What Should You Bring to the CFSC Course?
Bring: (1) government-issued photo ID, (2) your RCMP Student Handbook (may be included in course fee โ confirm with instructor), (3) pen and paper for notes, (4) lunch if the course runs all day. The instructor provides the range equipment and firearms for the practical. Do not bring your own firearm unless the instructor specifically requests it.
Does the CFSC Certificate Expire?
No. Your CFSC certificate never expires. Once you pass, you are certified permanently. You do not need to retake the course for PAL renewal. Keep the original certificate safely stored โ you may need it if your PAL lapses or if you are asked to prove certification.
